Waves, surfing, this is something that awakes fears for some but excitement for others. Surfing has become a lifestyle symbol for freedom and adventure. But where can someone go enjoy this fantastic sport, a destination that is close to you and not half way around the world?

BookingFair.com has prepared a list of top surfing spots that should be in easy reach for anyone. We have chosen the one destination for each continent, something that you should try before going on to another place.

Hawaii, United States. Hawaii offers maybe the best surfing spot in the world. Pipeline, Oahu has some of the most exciting waves where most surfers dream at having the perfect ride. Hawaii is the destination for many surfers, but within easy reach from North America and Eastern Asia.

How to get there: Fly into Dillingham Airport on north shore and get a taxi or drive to Ehukai Beach Park in Pupukea.

Gold Coast, Australia. One of the most high profile touristic destinations in Australia is the Gold Coast. Besides lots of fun, the Gold Coast is also the home of one of the best surfing spots in southern hemisphere. Superbanks is the place to be for some great waves. This surfing destination is recommended for people in Australia and New Zealand.

How to get there: Fly into Brisbane and make your way to Greenmount or Snapper Rocks by car.

Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa. Jeffrey’s Bay can offer the ride of a lifetime with intense waves splashing. The Bay is divided into sections, with the Supertubes area offering the best waves to ride. This is a surfing destination looking for riding the waves even up to 300 m.

How to get there: Fly to Port Elizabeth and drive for about an hour heading the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

Bali, Indonesia. Bali is already a top touristic destination, with beautiful islands and luxuriant vegetation, clear waters and amazing beaches. But what many didn’t know is that Bali also offer some great surfing spots attracting surfers from Australia and Hawaii. Try the Uluwatu and Kuta bay spots.

How to get there: Fly into Denpasar Airport and get a taxi down to Kuta or to Uluwatu.

California, United States. The Mavericks point in California offers the mother of all waves. Recommended for professional surfers as waves can reach even 25m in height. Also, if you dare taking on such an experience, also prepare your life insurance, just in case!

How to get there: Fly in to Half Moon Bay Airport and go to Mavericks point, just three kilometers from shore, north of Half Moon Bay, Princeton-By-The-Sea.

Hossegor, France. This spot has been crowned the surfing capital of Europe (needless to say to whom we recommend this spot). Located South on the French Atlantic coast, close to Spain, Hossegor can rival waves from Hawaii.

How to get there: Fly into Biarritz Airport and get a car to Hossegor.

Sao Francisco do Sul, Brazil. South America couldn’t miss this ranking, with Sao Francisco do Sul as a great destination for surfing. This is the spot where the Brazilian surfing competitions take place, and this we believe says it all.

How to get there: Fly into Joinville-Lauro Carneiro de Loyola Airport and get a car to Sao Francisco do Sul that is just 75 minutes away.

Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Central America offers a perfect spot for both beginners and pros. Tamarindo Beach has warm waters with waves reaching 3 m.

How to get there: Fly into Tamarindo Airport and get a taxi to the Tamarindo beach.
